lol this reminded me of my daughter as we put her computer desk together this weekend. Curiosity got the better of her. Asking if she could help I said sure use the drill to put the screws in the support board. How she asked. 'Insert the screw, place the drill on the end, and press the button I replied.
It was then that I realized I had been failing my 14-year-old daughter by allowing her to live in a service bubble where kids no longer had to figure out problems or think for themselves.
To remedy this next week I am going to surprise her with a life lesson to help her grow into a more independent adult. I've located a forest reserve known for its wild bear attacks. So my plan is that we will have a picnic with honey and sandwiches. Then as she puts the garbage in a bag I will high-tail it out of the park leaving her with a map and the encouraging words written on the back 'don't speak to strangers. See you in a day.
